Russian Empire. Medal "For Courage." Period of the First World War. Established in December 1807, in 1878 during the reign of Emperor Alexander II was divided into 4 degrees. Since August 10, 1913, according to the new edition of the Statute of the Order of St. George medals were assigned to this order and received the name - "St. George." After the February Revolution of 1917, the front side of the St. George medals was changed, instead of a portrait of Nicholas II, an image of St. George the Victorious, striking a dragon with a spear.
