Russian Empire. Epolets (chase) sub-lieutenant of cavalry of the 3rd Strike Battalion of the Provisional Government. 1917. Epolets differ from the royal Ulan regiments by the presence of the "Adam 's head" emblem with crossed bones.

The Strike Battalion included three infantry companies, an artillery division, a cavalry squadron (mounted reconnaissance), a machine gun team, a liaison office and a rear unit.
