The Medal "For the Defense of Stalingrad" is awarded to all participants of the defense of Stalingrad - soldiers of the Red Army, Navy and NKVD troops, as well as persons from the civilian population who took a direct part in the defense. The period of defense of Stalingrad is considered 12 July - 19 November 1942. Approximately 759,560 people were awarded the Medal "For the Defense of Stalingrad."
