Russian Empire. Sign "50 years of service in the Caucasus". It is approved on August 25, 1909. The sign represents the Caucasian cross (with the widened ends) through the middle there pass the crossed swords with monograms of emperors on the ends Alexander II and Nikolay II. In the center the Roman figure 50 (L).
Crosses "For service in the Caucasus" which carried on the left side of a breast is lower than all awards, all ranks of the Russian army taking active part in war with mountaineers from 1859 to 1864 or service in the Caucasus were awarded not less than 10 years. Rewarding with this or that type of a cross was held depending on a rank and merits before the fatherland. The bronze cross awarded all lower military ranks (including Caucasian militia) and the numerous volunteers taking part in various battles and also all government officials, priests and physicians fulfilling the functional duties during combat operations.
