№121704 Bayonet AVS-36

USSR. A bayonet knife of the 1936 model for the automatic rifle of the Simonov system. SUPER RARE!!!

A rather original bayonet locking system. Its hollow handle is a movable frame mounted on the shank of the blade, which plays the role of a spring latch. The bayonet is attached to the bar under the barrel of the rifle using a hook in the back of the blade shank and a slot in the handle head. In the combat position, the bayonet is also fixed by the hook under the barrel with a special groove located in the back of the handle. Without being fixed in the firing position, the bayonet plays the role of a bipod that can be inserted into the ground to stabilize the rifle, especially in automatic fire mode.

The blade of the bayonet is single-edged, with a beveled relative to the longitudinal lobe and a rectangular recess on the heel of the blade on both sides. The handle is formed by two fluted wooden cheeks fastened to the movable frame with a single screw. There is a hook on the shank of the blade behind the handle, forming a latch along with a cutout in the handle head. There is a groove in the back of the handle for fixing the bayonet in the firing position. The scabbard is made of steel, with two brackets for a leather belt.

Total length (without scabbard) 450 mm, blade length 335 mm. The blade was sharpened.
