№122433 Badge of the Life Guards of the Finnish Regiment

Russian Empire. The officer badge of the Life guards of the Finnish regiment was established on December 12, 1906. The sign has the form of a militia cross at the ends of which the motto " For the FAITH, the Tsar, the Fatherland." In the center of the cross is a double-headed eagle under the Imperial crown with peruns (with arrows) in its paws.

The history of the Finnish regiment begins with the Manifesto of 30.7. 1806 - when Alexander I mentioned the probable war with France and the creation of the people's militia, then called the militia. The militia in this battalion was recruited in the vicinity of Strelna from Ingermanland Finns and Palace peasants. Dozens of the battalion were called up from neighboring surrounding villages, according to the principle of community. Companies, in addition to numbering, received a name. The first company was called Oranienbaum, the second and fourth – Gatchina, the third-Strelna. The regiment especially distinguished itself in the battles with Napoleon, for which it was ranked as a Guard.

Light bronze, gilding, silvering. Size 42.5*42.5 mm.
