Russian Empire. Tape on the handle (head) for cold weapons (sashcue or dagger) "For courage." Complete with tape was the 4th degree of the Order of St. Anna (so-called "cranberry"). The ribbon and sign of the order were usually attached to the top (head) of the handle sabels of the Caucasus type and dagger-kama.
