Established by the Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of 31 October 1967 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution. The October Revolution citizens of the USSR, the enterprise, institution, organization and other groups of workers, military units and connections and also the republics, edges, areas and the cities are awarded the order. Foreign citizens may also be awarded this Order. The Order of the October Revolution made 106.462 awards.
