The bayonet was made in the image and likeness of a short bayonet of the 1898 model (KS 98) to a rifle of the 1898 Mauser system. It was purchased by the military at personal expense for wearing with uniforms outside the service. The bayonet was made by E.Pack & Sohne, Solingen.
