The bayonet was made in the image and likeness of a short bayonet of the 1898 model (kS 98) to a rifle of the 1898 Mauser system. It was purchased by the military at personal expense for wearing with uniforms outside the service. The bayonet was made by Eickhorn, Solingen. In a coiplect with a leather suspension (toad) and a temlak.
