The appearance of the obverse of the medal “For Impeccable Service” of the KGB differed from all other variants and types of medals of any of the departments that established it. Only the KGB medal has Roman numerals “XX”, “XV” or “X” in the lower part of the obverse, between the lower rays of the star, on the I, II and III degrees of the medal, respectively. On the reverse in the center there is an inscription in three lines “FOR IMPECCABLE SERVICE". At the bottom of the reverse is a small five–pointed star. There is no convex rim along the circumference of the reverse of the medal.
The medal is made of silver. This variant was awarded in 1960-65.
